Product Description

The 1%ers: How New Things Get Done

The most frequently expressed concern of CEOs of large enterprises is lack of innovation capability. They say they want to create institutions full of individuals thinking and behaving like entrepreneurs rather than rule-following Taylor-optimised drones. The reality is that for the most part that’s not what they actually want. This leaves the prospective intrapreneur with a host of contradictions to deal with, the biggest of which being the need to break rules in environments where rule-breaking is essentially prohibited. At the same time, there are no meaningful places where intrapreneurs can acquire the skills and traits needed to successfully navigate the anthrocomplex, never-stepping-in-the-same-river-twice riptides of changing enterprises. Enterprises built on a century of stability-seeking goals and ‘continuous improvement’ efficiency memes. The 1%ers: How New Things Get Done is our latest book, the result of over forty years working as and working with successful (‘1%er’) intrapreneurs. The book builds around the invisible contracts we all signed and how they force us to don Seven Veils that effectively prevent innovation. We explore how 1%ers successfully remove these Veils and replace them with the Seven Laws Of How New Things Get Done. 1%ers look set to be the most future-proof roles in the emerging AI-driven workplace, and the world will soon recognise they need more of them.

This 8-hour workshop will explore the Seven Veils and their replacement Laws in the context of a series of real-world intrapreneurship case studies through a pair of half-day online sessions.

Taught in the usual SI style through a combination of short, sharp injections of theory and hands-on breakout exercises, delegates are invited to bring along their own intrapreneurial challenges and dilemmas to explore during the workshop.

Dates: - 13 and 20 January 2026. Precise timing will depend on time-zones of participants, but likely to be around the middle of the day GMT.

The workshop will be facilitated by Darrell Mann and Shana Finnegan

Price: £125 per person including VAT (including a copy of the 1%ers ebook)

(15% discount for the second and subsequent delegates arriving from the same organisation)

Delegates will receive an electronic copy of the workshop slides and exercise templates.
